WasteZero®

WasteZero History

WasteZero has been through quite an evolution during our 20-year history. Here are just a few of the noteworthy milestones.

1991

WasteZero began with a commitment to making the world a better place by recycling plastic grocery sacks into trash bags. Our unique store and school collection systems were in place in over 4,000 locations, and our EnviroBag™ trash bags enjoyed retail store distribution in over 1,000 retailers.

1993

Discovered an opportunity to partner with communities to deliver programs that work incredibly well in reducing solid waste. We were pioneers in the early Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) movement.

2000

Built state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to support PAYT programs. Leveraged high-tech manufacturing processes and built specialized extrusion expertise to incorporate higher levels of recycled content into products. Remained competitive against ex-US companies who were attempting to dominate US market.

2003

Launched menu-driven services to enhance our competitive position and improve customer outcomes (early versions of WasteZero Trash Metering™ programs).

2007

Enhanced warehousing, secure logistics, and reporting capabilities to bring the market dramatically improved waste-reduction outcomes.

2009

Realized waste reduction results of more than 40% with first generation waste reduction programs.

2011

Celebrated 20-year history with 98% of all WasteZero Trash Metering™ programs initiated still in place and running successfully. Acquired Resourceful Bag and Tag and along with it hundreds of PAYT relationships.
